SUMMARY:Intro to Hybrid (Tunisian) Crochet
DESCRIPTION:Hybrid crochet (also known as Tunisian crochet or afghan stitch) is becoming hugely popular thanks to designers like Toni Lipsey\, Natalie of Detroit Knots\, and Aiobhe Ni. A mix of knitting and crochet skills\, it provides a unique textured fabric with a right side and a wrong side. Whether you knit or crochet\, this class will introduce you to some basic techniques used in hybrid crochet and introduce you to two stitches and at least one stitch pattern using the two basic stitches (maybe two if we’re making really good time!).

SUMMARY:Intro to Tablet Weaving
DESCRIPTION:Tablet weaving (also referred to as “card weaving”) is one of the oldest weaving technologies we know about – just by using square cards with 4 holes punched in the corners\, you can make incredibly complex designs and create your own lanyards\, bag straps\, shoelaces\, belts\, and more! \nIn this 3-hour class\, we’ll use 10 cards and weaving cotton to create a simple striped band\, starting from the warping process and going all the way through weaving your first few inches of the band. You’ll leave with a list of resources to help you grow as a weaver and the start of your very first band-weaving project.

SUMMARY:Crochet Monster
DESCRIPTION:Megan Lapp’s adorable crocheted creations have taken our shop by storm. We’ve sold out of her books multiple times and have had a great time helping folks mix and match their favorite monster parts to create their own unique creatures. \nIf you’ve felt intimidated by the patterns but want to join the fun\, sign up for our Crochet Monster class! It’s a two-part class where we’ll focus on monster parts in session 1\, then questions and assembly in part 2. To keep things easy\, we’ll all be making the same monster – but you’ll get the skills you need to branch out as soon as this little buddy is done!

SUMMARY:How to Doodle with Jamie Lomax
DESCRIPTION:Doodles by Pacific Knit Co. are modern and whimsical colorwork motifs that enable knitters to design and knit exactly what they want! The Doodle Framework has three simple steps: \n1) Pick your Pattern Shape\, \n2) Pick your Doodle Motifs\, and \n3) Pick your Yarn Colors. \nThen just start knitting! During this session\, we’ll deep dive into each step and learn how to choose and modify your base pattern\, how to re-create your master chart using Doodle motifs\, and how to build cohesive yarn palettes that work for colorwork. Afterwards\, you’ll have the confidence to create your own unique colorwork projects\, which gives you endless customization with just one pattern!

SUMMARY:Basic Doodle Beanie - Introduction to Stranded Colorwork
DESCRIPTION:You’ve seen the Doodle Cowls. You’re super-excited to make one. But… how do you do the thing? How do you make those patterns magically appear in your fabric? It’s a technique called stranded colorwork (or sometimes Fair Isle)\, and if you can knit and purl\, you can totally do this\, too! \nWe’ll be making the Basic Doodle Hat\, designed by Jamie Lomax – owner of Pacific Knit Co. and innovator behind the Doodle Decks!

SUMMARY:MINI-CLASS: Grafting
DESCRIPTION:One of our Socktoberfest special mini-classes focused on sockmaking skills! Learn how to close a sock toe (or infinity scarf\, or any of a number of other items) by grafting together two sets of live stitches neatly to make it look like a more-or-less seamless line of knitting.

SUMMARY:MINI-CLASS: Stretchy Cast-On & Bind-Off
DESCRIPTION:One of the biggest problems new sock knitters face: how do you get a firm\, yet elastic edge that’ll stand up to years of being pulled on and off and staying up for daily wear? \nIn this class\, we’ll revisit the long-tail cast-on and learn its sock-friendly variation\, the Old Norwegian (aka “German Twisted”) cast-on. For our toe-up sock knitters (but also people who like an attractive edge on sleeves\, necks\, and hems)\, we’ll learn the sewn bind-off.

SUMMARY:MINI-CLASS: Judy's Magic Cast-On
DESCRIPTION:One of our Socktoberfest special mini-classes focused on sockmaking skills! If you’ve wanted to make toe-up socks but are stymied by how to get started\, let us introduce you to Judy’s Magic Cast-On. First published in 2006\, Judy Becker’s method for a seamless start to any project that would otherwise require a provisional cast-on has revolutionized sock knitting. \nIn this 90-minute mini-class\, you’ll learn how to do Judy’s Magic Cast-On. Lindsey will be demonstrating on Magic Loop\, but the technique is sufficiently similar on DPNs or 2 circulars that you should not have any issues following along if you prefer either of those methods.

SUMMARY:Basic Socks\, Cuff-Down
DESCRIPTION:Socks are one of our shop community’s favorite portable projects – they’re small\, easy to pause work on when you have an interruption\, and amazing at helping keep your feet dry and warm in our cool\, rainy autumn and winter seasons. But if you’ve never made a pair before\, the tiny yarn and all the new terminology can be overwhelming. \nIf you need more support than you’re finding on YouTube\, join us for Basic Socks – we use a free\, tutorial-rich pattern from Tin Can Knits and worsted-weight yarn to get through a child-sized sock quickly – and at a large-enough scale to see what you’re doing at each step in the process.

SUMMARY:Basic Socks - Toe-Up
DESCRIPTION:If you want to make socks but are concerned about how much yarn you have – especially if the socks’ intended recipient has larger-than-average feet – or want to easily try the socks on as you go\, then making a pair of toe-up socks is worth a try. We’ll be working with the Towanda Socks pattern by Heather Hill – they’re worked in a DK-weight yarn\, so you’ll be done with your first sock in no time flat!
