DESCRIPTION:Rigid Heddle Weaving from Start to Finish is designed for complete beginners who want to learn the all the basics of weaving on this user-friendly loom. The class will cover the entire weaving process from selecting yarn and reeds sizes\, warping the loom\, threading the reed\, learning tips for good tension\, weaving different patterns\, and finishing. The class is divided into two sessions\, a week apart\, to allow time for working at home in between sessions. Students will warp their loom and start to weave a scarf in the first class\, and finish and start a second sample piece in the second class.

DESCRIPTION:Knitted socks are fashionable\, customizable\, and small projects you can take on the go! \nOn the other hand\, knitting the socks sounds daunting\, makes knitters run in fear\, and can cause the dreaded “second sock” syndrome. \nThe knitting part is really not as complicated as it seems. Depending on the pattern\, a lot of sock knitting is plain stockinette stitch in the round for several inches above the heel and then again before the toe. \nThe tricky techniques in knitting a sock tend to fall into these categories:\nKnitting the correct size\nKnitting the heel\nGrafting the toe (in a top down sock)\nCasting on (in a toe up sock) \nThose techniques will be the focus of this class. We will identity the anatomy of the sock\, knit a heel flap and gusset\, practice the trusty kitchener stitch to graft our toes closed\, learn Judy’s Magic Cast On for toe up socks\, and discuss gauge and taking foot measurements. \nThe end goal will be that after mastering these tricky sock parts\, you will have the confidence to knit socks you can wear or share with pride!

Sample pieces available to see and feel in the Shop. Students will knit a sample size in class and then you will have the month to knit the section on your project. Each section is about 40-50 rows over 120 stitches +/- a few row/stitches so this is very doable in a month’s time.
