This workshop will highlight the act of repair and clothing adornment with Sashiko Japanese Embroidery. A humble hand-working skill, centuries old, originating in rural Japan, Sashiko’s running stitch insulated work garments for warmth and longevity.
With emphasis on individual choice, we will review various options for patching and repairing your clothing. Discussion and demonstrations will include Sashiko’s backstory, how to prepare the mending area, draw up a grid, layout a Sashiko pattern, and make a stitching plan.
